MY CALMING SPIRIT

For this motivational writing, I decided to share my notes I have written to myself. This is what I must continue to do to be MORE productive and positive in this world. I hope this will help you if your are feeling down and a little low on energy.

I could feel restless and fidgety today and be preoccupied with many random thoughts. I could feel a need to work through emotional blockages that are upsetting me, or I could feel overwhelmed by too many tasks. BUT I AM NOT FEELING THAT WAY! When I decide to make an effort to focus on more peaceful activities, I will find that I am indeed able to release my restlessness and regain a calmer state of mind. I must engage in restorative activities like yoga or go for a meditative walk today to help you burn off tension and strengthen the mind-body connection, (which I do weekly). I can also keep a daily journal. Yes, writing is good for your mind, body and soul. When I do these activities in a soothing, natural setting, It will surely bolster my spirit. I may also find it helpful to repeat calming affirmations to myself, when needed. For me, it's all of the time.

You see, engaging in peaceful activities can calm our feelings of restlessness and energize us with a positive attitude. Feelings of restlessness can often indicate a disconnection between our mind, body, and spirit. If we choose to see our restless feelings as a call for attention, we can give ourselves what we need before our emotions begin to negatively affect us. Choosing to engage in soothing activities can help us turn our attention inward so we can reconnect with our higher selves. Paying attention to our spiritual center will infuse us with a feeling of calm, and our restlessness vanishes. You can ease your sense of agitation today by going inward and devoting positive, quality attention to restoring the connection between your mind, body, and spirit.

Something else I do more than ever, (since my accident). I sing. I listen to the positive words of music and I repeat them over and over again. Sometimes, I think I can do certain things such as in Al Green's song, "I Can't Get Next To You." I tell myself, I can also move those things and have that kind of power-just so I will have a productive day. Am I lying to myself? My answer is, I have been MORE productive with my brain injury, than with out it! It's just another "tactic," to pump myself up for that day. I remember one Mother's Day, my pastor song "You Are So Beautiful," to all of the mother's in the church. What a beautiful song we can sing to ourself. I would like to share this song with you song by Little Miss Jamia Nash. She is a small little package with a BIG BEAUTIFUL voice. I hope you will enjoy this as I did.
